2015 REPORT OF THE GOLF COMMITTEE
Rutherford / Cannon County Bar Association
“ The Trophy Moves Yet Again”
The Twentieth Annual golf tournament was held Friday, May 8, 2015, at the Indian Hills Golf Club. Your Golf Committee thought it was time to try another Spring date for the contest and hope for no rain. We were blessed with a dry, sunny day with temperatures slightly above average, but low humidity. The consensus among participants was that we should endeavor to continue the Spring date if possible. Eight full teams participated. We presented awards for first and second place in two flights. A scorecard playoff was necessary to determine first and second place in the Second Flight. The team of Darwin Colston, Johnny Mitchell, Jack Mitchell, and Jonathan Hershman took first place over the team of Hon. David Bragg, Kevin Bragg, Nick Christiansen, and Blake Garner. Both teams shot a 7 under, 65. In the First Flight, the defending champions, Ryan Freeze, Troy Freeze, Russell Nixon, and Mark Kent took second place with a 12 under, 60. They fell one stroke shy to the 59 shot by this year’s champions, Hon. Don Ash, Steve Dix, Jared Dix, and Chris Bishop. The Trophy will split time between the offices of Judge Ash and Dix & We also had the traditional contests of skill. Four closest to the pins were awarded on the 4 par 3’s at Indian Hills. Closest to # 5 went to Jonathan Hershman; Hole # 7 was won by Gary Beasley; Jeff Farrar hit closest on hole # 13, and Hon. Don Ash took the honor for hole # 15, setting up the putt to win the tournament. The Longest Drive was struck by Hon. David Bragg on Hole # 18, allegedly from the Senior tees. All participants reported having a great time. We will endeavor to secure a Spring date for the tournament next year. If you have thoughts and constructive criticism, please forward your input to Golf Chair, Steve Dix. Thanks for your participation and we look forward to seeing you next year !
